Ulrich ZORIN, DARS
Mr. Ulrich Zorin is Head of the development of new technologies at DARS (Motorway Company in the Republic of Slovenia). By education he is a master of transport sciences, specialised in international traffic flow management and is completing his doctoral studies in the field of introduction of artificial intelligence for predictiong motorway traffic jams.
He has been very active in ITS related projects/programmes like Tempo, Easyway and Crocodile, now participates in the programs X4ITS, Atlantis, 5GSITACOR, PIARC and CEDR. He is also lecturer on the faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture at the University of Maribor and President of the Society of Traffic Engineers of Slovenia.

an expert in laboratory equipment and digital infrastructure, currently holds the position of Senior Manager Sales at infraTest Prüftechnik GmbH and serves as the CEO of infraTest Digital Solutions GmbH. With a strong background in these fields, he has authored a wealth of articles and is a regular participant in technical conferences and events.
Ersun Görener’s professional profile also includes active memberships and associations in the field. He is a member of the technical committee and the General Council of the European Asphalt Pavement Association (EAPA). Additionally, he is affiliated with the Road and Transportation Research Association (FGSV) in Germany, further demonstrating his commitment to staying engaged and connected within the industry.
Berwich SLUER; Partner in solution
Berwich Sluer, born and raised in Suriname, achieved his master’s degree in Road Construction and Pavement Engineering at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. In his first professional occupational years as a road management consultant he developed a special interest in looking at the challenges in the road paving industry from a broad perspective to achieve progress in the business. For the past 20 years he has set up and managed the R&D departments at the Road and Infrastructure division of Royal Boskalis Westminster and BAM Wegen. In 2023 Berwich, together with business partner Natascha Poeran, founded the consultancy   Partners in Solutions. At   Berwich focuses on main topics in the industry like End Result Verification, reliable service life prediction models for open graded surface layers, full process control of asphalt application, asphalt process automation and pavement data and information management systems. From a holistic point of view all these topics are strongly related and interlinked. By appointing, classifying and optimizing these relations   works towards a transition in the paving construction industry from implicit craftsmanship to explicit industrialization
Jaka GORIŠEK, DARS
Jaka Gorišek is an independant expert associate within Road Management Sector for slovenian highway and expressway operator DARS. In 2016, he finished studying geodesy and geoinformatics with masters degree at the University of Ljubljana. He started his career in field-surveying for telco compaines. In the last 4 years at DARS, he is active in the field of mobile mapping, road data digitalisation, GIS systems and R&D of advanced information systems and technologies.

Natascha Poeran, born and raised in The Netherlands, achieved her master’s degree in Road and Railway Engineering at Delft University of Technology. During her study she discovered her fascination for materials, their behavior and the fundamental challenges therein, especially for bitumen and asphalt. After finishing DUT Natascha has started working as a Research Consultant at the R&D department at the Road and Infrastructure division of Royal Boskalis Westminster. There, Natascha was introduced to the practical and more artisanal side of the pavement industry. After 10 years of working in the R&D department in 2023 Natascha, together with business partner Berwich Sluer, founded the consultancy   Partners in Solutions. In order to further main topics in the industry like End Result Verification, amongst others, Natascha combines knowledge of both theory and practice to design and optimize research projects, processes and their interrelations. In doing so   works towards a transition in the paving construction industry from implicit craftsmanship to explicit industrialization.

Since 2021 Thomas Leopoldseder is CEO of the Q Point Group, a solution provider company for the asphalt industry. In August 2024 Thomas was awarded as CEO of the year 2024 in the area of “Civil Engineering Construction Software” by the international medium “EU Business news”. This is further proof of his great commitment to developing the asphalt industry into a sustainable industry.
Roman BAŠELJ, IGMAT
From 1994 to 2000 he was employed by Cestno podjetje Kranj d.d. where he conducted laboratory tests for the needs of the construction profession. Since 2000 he has been employed at Igmat. Until 2003, he was employed as a technologist in an asphalt laboratory (asphalt, protection of bridging structures, waterproofing). He performed internal quality control work for various contractors, mainly in the form of cooperation with the operative, as well as he has been and still is a part of the external contracting authority, quality controls for DARS and DRSI. In 2012, he took on the Head of IGM (bitumen, waterproofing, epoxy industrial flooring, individual chemical investigations of building materials). Since 2004, he has been working with representatives of contracting authorities abroad (Austria, Italy, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo).
Rok RUDOLF, ZAG
He has been working at Slovenian National Civil Engineering institute (ZAG) in Laboratory for Building Physics. Up until 2023, when he began his doctoral study, he also held the position of head of quality control management for department of building physics. His work includes various aspects of acoustics and noise control: performing wide array of lab and in-situ measurements and monitoring, developing measurement chains, building and room acoustics calculations, preparing noise emission models with associated reports and presentations, noise barrier quality control, road surface related and low frequency noise measurements. Since he does quite a bit of environmental impact studies, he is also familiar with Slovenian regulations as they relate to noise. His research work is focused on infrastructure noise, specifically road surface effects on traffic noise and developing a platform for noise and vibration monitoring on steel railway bridges as part of Assests4Rail project. On behalf of SIST, he is a member of two ISO technical committees that cover his work on standardization. From 2022 onwards he has been enrolled in a PhD program at University of Primorska (FAMNIT) with his doctoral disposition titled: “Noise emission estimates of asphalt road surfaces with machine learning algorithms”.
Marton HITTNER, STRABAG
Márton Hittner is an experienced lean specialist in construction industry. He started his career in 2005 with a master’s degree in architecture and has since developed significant international knowledge in different areas of the industry.
Márton first became experienced in integrated design in an engineering office in Austria. Later, he led complex investments in the field of construction, where he also had the opportunity to participate in the lean development of mass production. For the last 5 years he is leading process development in South-Eastern Europe for STRABAG, one of Europe’s leading construction companies.
Grega SEVER, IGMAT
Gregor Sever, M.Sc. graduated from Geodesy on the Faculty of Ljubljana in 1995. He joined Igmat at 1998, where he started with his own application development and computerization of the company. For more than 20 years, he managed the IT department of the institute and had a decisive influence on the development of the IQS business system, which has been developing in its current form since 2003.

He is Managing Director of MHI Naturstein & Baustoffservice GmbH and member of the Management Board of MHI Baustoff GmbH. He is a member of the German Association for Road and Transport Research (FGSV). He has been working in the field of warm mix asphalt for more than 20 years.
Breixo GOMEZ, EAPA
Breixo Gómez-Meijide graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of A Coruña (Spain). After carrying out pre-doctoral stays in different countries, such as Singapore, Italy and UK, he obtained a PhD in 2015 at the University of A Coruña and received the Doctorate Extraordinary Award for his thesis on sustainable asphalt materials. Then, he moved to the UK, where he worked as a Research Fellow at the Nottingham Transportation Engineering Centre (University of Nottingham). There, he was involved in national and European projects (e.g. HEALROAD on self-healing pavements) and supervised four PhD Students on different topics related to sustainable and resilient roads. Breixo joined EAPA in October 2018 as Technical Director and is the focal point of EAPA for technical issues. He is the secretary of the EAPA Technical Committee and is also involved in Health, Safety and Environment items. He is also in charge of representing the asphalt industry in the CEN Committees related to asphalt and actively contributing in European standardisation processes.
Andrej ANŽLIN, ZAG
Andrej Anžlin, Head of the Section for Bridges at ZAG, is a structural engineer with a PhD in seismic engineering. Since joining ZAG in 2011, he has always tried to make unique contributions to bridge engineering. He has a vast spectrum of experience, including roles as a bridge inspector, involvement in numerous research projects, experimental work, and field monitoring. He has also served as a guest researcher at the University of Zagreb and actively collaborates in transforming research knowledge into practical solutions for the industry. Additionally, Andrej mentors PhD students. As the leader of the Bridge Specialists Team at ZAG, his focus on innovative solutions in digital bridge inspection, structural health monitoring, and bridge structural safety analysis is enriched by his diverse background. The insights presented today are a reflection of this broad experience, as well as the collective efforts of his team, whose contributions have been invaluable. Today, Andrej will present on “Development of Digital Bridge Inspection.”
Rok VEZOČNIK, ZAG
Rok Vezočnik has a PhD in Geodetic Engineering and over 10 years of experience with precise remote sensing technologies. His technical expertise includes areas of active (laser) and passive (photogrammetric) measuring systems, focusing on topics of deformation monitoring, reverse engineering, simulations of static and dynamic processes, calibration of measuring systems, standardization of measuring principles, 3D modelling and BIM. Besides technical knowledge, he has extensive experience with project management as well as marketing and promotion activities related to remote sensing technologies. Rok’s bibliography comprises scientific publications and conference papers. He is also active in university mentorship and provides invited seminars at various institutions. |
Martin HAUPTMAN, CESTEL
Martin Hauptman is a project manager at Cestel, the Slovenian producer of bridge weigh-in-motion systems. He mainly works on Cestel’s projects in foreign markets, today he’ll present a case study based on over 20 years of bridge WIM measurements in Slovenia.

Bart Helincks, from Belgium, is responsible for export and sales at Ventraco. With 18 years of experience in the pigment industry for road construction. His extensive technical background allows him to solve technical issues and provide customers with tailored advice.
Jorge SALAS HERRANZ, PADECASA
Jorge is a postdoctoral researcher with vast experience in construction management and designing decision-support systems based on both quantitative and qualitative models. He is currently leading a research project pursuing the advancement of the production of the sustainability of hot-mixed asphalt (HMA) from two directions: through the development of a digital twin improving the efficiency of the HMA production process, and through a performance-based system for the prioritization of an HMA recipes portfolio based on the designer’s preferences and the designing of tailored recipes.
Zvonko ZAVASNIK, DARS
I have been professionally involved in traffic safety and traffic infrastructure safety for 25 years. I first gained experience in traffic safety during 9 years with the police. This was followed by a 13-year period at the Ministry of Infrastructure, where, as head of the Road Sector, I led or participated in the most important road projects. For the past 4 years, I have been working as the head of the Traffic Management and Traffic Safety Department at DARS. Here, my work focuses on traffic management, including ensuring conditions for improving traffic safety.
